Syrma Technology, an EMS partner and specialist in design and manufacturing of custom RFID tag solutions, joined the DASH7 Alliance. The DASH7 Alliance is a newly formed wireless industry consortium with the shared goals of making wireless devices based on the ISO 18000-7 (DASH7) standard more accessible to greater numbers of people and organizations, emphasizing DASH7’s low-power and scalability, and cultivating a global network of DASH7 ecosystem partners.

DASH7 is essentially an active RFID air interface technology, and Syrma Technology brings many years of experience in RFID product engineering and manufacturing technology that has enabled many new RFID solutions. The addition of DASH7 technology expands the capabilities that Syrma Technology brings to the table in support of its OEM customer base in launching new solutions to market. Syrma Technology offers building block engineering, manufacturing and testing services that enable OEMs to more effectively deploy DASH7 technology in new RFID and M-to-M communication products.

DASH7 is a new wireless sensor networking technology that evolved from a combination of existing radio-frequency identification and sensing technologies. Products with DASH7 capability built-in or attached to them will dramatically simplify the way we keep in touch with the "non-human" world around us, improving the wireless communications capabilities of a wide range of mobile devices.

Syrma’s present RFID product offerings include passive tags and transponders in 125 KHz and 13.56 MHz frequencies. All RFID and tag solutions are produced in a flexible capacity manufacturing model, enabling support of low-volume custom tag requirements to mid / high-volume applications.

N.G. Sreedharan, Syrma Technology Engineering General Manager commented, “Participation in the DASH7 Alliance will enable expansion of our RFID tag solutions to include DASH7-based technology products. Participating in the DASH7 Alliance will greatly enhance our ability to lead our customers in introducing this exciting technology. We are also proud to be the first India-based participant in the alliance and we look forwards to helping promote adoption of the DASH7 technology in the region.” “Our mission is to make the benefits of DASH7 wireless sensor networking a reality for government and commercial organizations throughout the world in 2010,” said Patrick Burns, president of the DASH7 Alliance.

Syrma Technology (www.syrmatech.com), a Tandon Group company, provides global OEMs opportunities to reduce product development costs and deliver globally competitive manufacturing services through leveraging Syrma’s contract engineering and manufacturing services. Syrma creates innovative electronics manufacturing and fulfillment solutions for global end markets, and enables OEMs to grow their presence in the rapidly expanding India market. The 30-year-old company specializes in collaborative design (CDM) and electronic manufacturing services of med/high mix and flexible volume electronic products, RFID tags and magnetic products for industrial, medical, telecommunications, and defense sector OEMs.

The DASH7 Alliance is a coalition of organizations from multiple industries that are committed to advancing the use and adoption of wireless sensor technologies based on the ISO18000-7 standard for wireless sensor networking. Participating organizations include Analog Devices, Arira Design, Austria Microsystems, Confidex, Dolphin RF, Dow, Evigia Systems, Hi-G-Tek, Identec Solutions, KPC, Lockheed Martin, Melexis, Michelin, Northrop Grumman, RFind, Semtech, Savi Technology, ST Microelectronics, Syrma Technology, Texas Instruments, and Wavetrend.. The U.S. Department of Energy and three of its laboratories, the Argonne National Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, as well as the University of Pittsburgh, plan to serve as technical advisors. Membership is open to end users, technology providers and research organizations. For more information, visit www.dash7.org.
