Description: SkyeTek showcases Real-World Examples of Manufacturers Using Embedded RFID through Ongoing Webinar Series

SkyeTek, Inc., the leading provider of embedded RFID reader technology, continues to showcase how manufacturers can integrate embedded RFID technology seamlessly into their existing products to add a layer of intelligence and create a fully networked technology. Over the course of three successful Webinars held during the month of June, SkyeTek detailed the business cases and technological implications associated with designing and embedding secure RFID into existing solutions, such as handhelds, cabinets and equipment, to enhance the simplicity, security and personalization of these products.

"We feel our educational Webinar series is important to the growth and expansion of RFID as a networking technology," said Martin Payne, SkyeTek's vice president of marketing and strategy. "As implementation of embedded RFID increases, I think manufacturers will begin to see the benefits of the technology within their products, such as lower administration costs, reduced out-of-stocks, and improved customer satisfaction. The capabilities of RFID technology extend much farther than simply increasing visibility in the supply chain."

During the first Webinar on June 5th, held in conjunction with RFID Journal, Payne offered a brief overview of RFID technology, including its initial uses in supply chain management to increase accuracy and efficiency. He then spent the majority of the Webinar explaining what SkyeTek refers to as "RFID 2.0" - using RFID as a way of wirelessly networking physical objects. Payne cited case studies on how manufacturers today are embedding RFID into a wide variety of products to add new functionalities and increase reliability. The Webinar generated approximately 500 registrants, and can be accessed at http://tinyurl.com/6oxz3f

SkyeTek's second Webinar took place on June 25th and explored the challenges facing medical manufacturers and distributors today, including inaccurate inventory, shrinkage and slow billing. Leigh Hocker Radtke, SkyeTek's director of product management, teamed with Payne for a discussion about how embedded RFID can enable medical manufacturers to automate field inventory management and billing, providing a more accurate and productive solution. The third Webinar was held in conjunction with Penton Media on June 26th. Kurt Mensch, SkyeTek's director of product management, discussed with Payne the differences between RFID and existing barcode and contact technologies, and how embedded RFID has new applications in disposable authentication, smart shelves and cabinets, contactless payments, tracking, inventory and stock, and customizable configurations. More than 620 people registered for the event, which can be accessed at http://tinyurl.com/5zt7u9.

These Webinars were the latest in SkyeTek's series of 2008 educational Webinars focused on the benefits of adding RFID to enhance the user experience. Recorded versions of previous SkyeTek Webinars are available at www.skyetek.com/webinars/
